The Terratamper rig is unique to PENNINE in the UK and marries the BSP 357 series piling hammer and the Daewoo base machine, the result is the Rapid Impact Compaction machine. Originally developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Defence the machine is used to carry out dynamic compaction quickly over large areas where light loadings are expected. The rig, using its 8 tonne piling hammer, can treat to depths of 3m and can generally be used within 10-15m of sound structures.
