PENNINE 's Zone Load Tests can be carried out anywhere in the UK using an adapted test frame and specially constructed steel ingots. Each ingot weighs 6 tones and can attain test weights of up to 120 tonnes applied via a hydraulic jack onto a wide range of base sizes.

These ingots have significant advantages over the conventional bulky concrete blocks:

	Increased safety due to ease of construction

	Reduction in the volume of test blocks

	Speed of construction

The testing system can be used to:

	Check the bearing capacity of fill to ascertain whether or not ground treatment is required

	Check the performance of slab areas under working load

	Carry out verification testing of ground treatment

	Carry out Pile Load Tests

	Conduct Plate and Zone Tests from 3 to 120 tonnes
